Playoffs – The State Tournament begins.   Congratulations to all of you (and there are a bunch of you) who have received an assignment.  Games may be more intense. Sharpen your focus. Remember that the rules do not change because we are in the State Tournament.  Be consistent and true to the way you have officiated all season.

The annual Officials vs. Cancer campaign has completed.  To make a donation, please send your check or money order made out to the American Cancer Society to Rem McGannon, 1678 Willowbrook Dr., Fort Mill, SC  29708.  If possible, we are asking for the donation of a game fee.  However, any and all donations are welcome.  Please do this today.

Tip of the Week

Message Sending Calls – Keep in mind that, in some games now, teams may be coming a significant distance and may be accustomed to a different style of officiating.  Make sure to accurately rule the first occurrences of the list below to set a tone that these violations and fouls will be enforced.  Again be consistent and true to the way you have officiated all season.

  • Closely guarded situations
  • Contact above the shoulders
  • Intentional fouls
  • Handchecking and freedom of movement plays
  • Three seconds
  • Early entry on free throws
  • Verticality
